"It's hard to convey how new and shocking these albums were at the time. I'm sure to kids these days, they sound unremarkable and pedestrian, but NOBODY at the time had done anything like this musically, and nobody else looked like 18V did. They were the first band to have fancy hair, the first band (other than Unbroken and all those fggts) to wear tight pants, and certainly the first band to take fashioncore steez nationwide [via touring in some shitty, broken-down van]."

It's similar to "Showcasecore". You would have known that if you kept reading. Would Checore be Find Him and Kill Him? hmmmm

i saw a punk band open or play before omdb once at showcase the singer of the punk band was giving autographs after the set. the band name escapes me, but ya. can a punk band playing such a non punk establishment be coined "showcasecore?" one must ask.

Great read. I was thinking about 18V after being at Chain the other day, and thinking "Maybe 18V would be better now that there's some distance..." and turns out I was 100% dead wrong. I'll give their "No Time for Love" EP on Trustkill a little nod as far as listenability, but even then...it's so tough to take. I wish I could be the guy who says that 2004-era 18V is sick, but I just can't (and I think "Chinese Democracy" is a rager).
I will concede that time has definitely not been fair to these OC dudes, although I think that the SYWH guy gets it backwards by calling them pioneers. I don't know if I'd go that far, although I do think he's right by saying that if they were doing their 2002 thing now they'd be probably be headlining SOMA mainstage shows. |

I remember hearing "Never Enough" and not really being grossed out (I should have been) but I just laughed.

i remember when the guy who wrote this was grovelling on a messageboard for mercy and about how pathetic his life was when women were pissed about nonchalant posts he made regarding sexually harassing a coworker and threatened to send the thread to his boss.
this guy's schtick is corny
