Some back story first... I have had terrible sinus problems my entire life and since I was 16 I've been getting sinus infections one to two times a year. When I was fat I was getting sick like crazy which is what lead me to lose a shit ton of weight. No surprise, as soon as I changed my diet and exercise routine and dropped 40 pounds I wasn't getting sick anymore. That was at the end of 2009. Anyway blah blah blah I did get a sinus infection twice between 2009 to about a few weeks ago (I just got another) but I honestly fucking blame those two on LIARMAN. Dude was sick like 40 times in 3 months and kept coming to work looking like death.
So now I'm in Texas spending time with family and my diet has kinda done a 360 since I've been out here. I'm not gaining weight because I'm still exercising but my grandma's cooking along with my discovery of choriqueso (baked jack cheese mixed with chorizo... whaaaaaaaat) is probably shocking the fuck out of my body. Not long after I got here I noticed my sinuses were acting up like crazy and then BOOM... sinus infection. I know it's the change in my diet along with the change in environment but I can fix my diet while I'm out here. So the question I wanted to ask all you (but mostly Spence because I think he knows this stuff) is... What foods can I get into that will boost my immune system as well as help sinus congestion? I'm thinking maybe some more obscure ass Whole Foods type shit rather than like V8 and carrots or some shit. And if any of you have sinus problems like me let me know of any natural remedies you use at home. I already fuck with the neti pot sinus rinse thing but I use the bottle instead of the pot. Long ass post but I'm bored as shit and this board is sucking dick anyway. <--- Not willing to suck dick to help sinuses.

I really don't know what a sinus infection really is, but I do have flare ups of nasal polyps. What I do is take horseradish root, chop off about an inch of it and then slice that up in to smaller pieces. I chew it up as fast as I can, but I make sure I chew it up enough to get all of the "sting" out of it that I can feel shoot right up into my nasal passages. I do this twice a day for about 5 days. Within about 3 days the polyps are gone.
Lots of people ask me, "why don't you just have surgery?", which I think is pretty ridiculous to ask why I would undergo a surgery that takes a few weeks recovery (no physical activity), doesn't prevent them from returning, and costs a lot more than the $5 I spend on horseradish root. If you don't want to try that, chew on ginger root. Not the dried pieces with sugar on them, but the actual root. It'll help clear your nose and also help your stomach with all the shit like chorizo that you're putting into it. Cayenne pepper is good too. Like you said, ultimately you have to change your diet. People complain about being overweight because of their genes, but then you look at their family and see they all have the same bad eating habits. I know people will have you try some sort of medication and give some jargon about bacteria or whatever, but the less of that you put in the better. Cut dairy products out of your diet for a week and see what happens. |

Rick, I have dealt with horrible sinus issues my whole life. I had full blown Sinusitus when I was in 7th grade. Missed 2 weeks of school because of it. I also have severe allergies. I get sinus infections at the drop of a hat. I finally decided I had enough in late 2009. I got a referral from my Doctor to see an ENT- Ear Nose Throat specialist. After an MRI on my head, he determined that my sinus passages are only about 10% of the width an average person has, so I get congested quicker, have sinus headaches very frequently etc. etc. I had surgery to help alleviate the situation. It's helped immensely. If you have insurance make insist on getting a referral to an ENT. I can recommend the guy that helped me out if you like.
Like Tim said. Things in your diet are still going to have to change. If you smoke anything, it's only making your situation worse (xsorryx). Getting allergy tested will help in this regard also. I found out I was allergic to oats in 2007. Fucking oats are in everything I like. But I have cut them out and I feel loads better. Hit me up if you have any questions or anything Don |

Rick. I along with my Mother suffered heavily from sinus problems;up until about six years ago. Since that time I have been taking what is called "Black Seed" or what the scientist like to call: Nigella Sativa. It has a lot of common names like 'Black Caraway' or 'Black Cumin'. (Not to be confused with black sesame). I swear by this stuff; it works for me at least. I'm in no way going to try to give you a history lesson on this but here is some info for yourself. This can be digested in oil form, I take it raw herb form with honey. I know the sinus issues suck big time: Black Seed Herb inc.Sweet Sunnah ©. Nigella sativa - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia If there are any international stores, I'm sure you can find it. Not expensive at all. In San Diego you can find it the North Park Produces in Poway or the one on El Cajon Blvd. Good Luck... |
